Taylor Swift is said to be one of the greatest artists of our generation. Swift recently broke a huge record having debuted at Number 1 on  Billboard 100 and Hot 100. She’s won 10 Grammys, 10 VMA, 10 MTV music awards, 9 ACM, 24 AMA, 23  Billboard Music Awards, 6 CMA, 10 iheartradio Music Awards, and 11 People’s Choice Award. She has inspired millions of people globally. She’s taken her listeners away with her on her life journey through her music. Through the good and the bad.  She recently surprised fans this past July 24th with her newest album Folklore and her latest music video Cardigan.

The day before the album’s release Swift had described it as an “entire brand-new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into.… Before this year, I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect time,’ but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed. My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with.” And it appears her fans are ecstatic with her work!  It’s a good thing she trusted her gut and released this album magnificent album into the world.

She reflects on her past and creates characters through her music and plays with different perspectives.

The album had a more singer-songwriter folky feel! It’s for sure different than anything else Swift’s ever written before. It’s a stellar album that feels raw and real.  She reflects on her past and creates characters through her music and plays with different perspectives.  She also had some amazing people who contributed to the making of her superb album!  Aaron Dessner co-produced the album with Swift, Jack Antonoff co-wrote nine of the sixteen songs on the album, and Justin Vernon from the band Bon Iver co-wrote and was a featured artist on “Exile.”  All of the songs on Swift’s latest album are so beautifully written with true emotion at the heart of each song.

It’s hard for any fan to really choose a favorite song off of Folklore. But one that was different and a stand out is “Peace.” Lyrically on the surface, it’s about being in love, having unrest in life, and about possibly not being able to give their partner peace, but hoping everything else the person has to offer is enough.  Swift lives what many would imagine being a hectic lifestyle that is probably not as peaceful as someone with a normal life would have and it feels as if she’s sharing her fears about how it may affect her relationship.  She shares in a line of Peace, “would it be enough if I could never give you peace?”  Even though many of her fans do not live anywhere close to the lifestyle of Taylor Swift, it is still relatable.   The hope that a person could be good enough for the one they love despite having their own flaws. Swift has always been good at relating to the essence and core of shared human feelings and emotions, and “Peace” is a good example of just that.  Other notable mentions on her album are of course her first hit single with more of an uptempo beat, “Cardigan.” The chilling and emotion-filled Exile” with Justin Vernon. “Betty” and the” Last Great American Dynasty” are a few other spectacular songs.  This album is highly recommended if you’ve heard every Swift album before or even if it’s your first, Folklore is a true masterpiece.
